Lothian Concert Recordings will retain copyright on any recordings made.
Excerpts from recordings may be used for promotional purposes. Full credit and contact information for the performing ensemble will be given. Recordings of complete concerts will only be provided to the ensemble commissioning the recording.
Any performer who could reasonably be expected to be paid for participating in the performance must give permission for a recording to be made. It would be good practice to ask all performers if they are happy to be recorded.
Some venues may impose restrictions on recordings being made. There may be a requirement to pay any staff on duty extra. Please check this out.
A licence must be obtained to record any piece of music which is still in copyright. Copyright extends to the end of the seventieth calendar year after the death of the the composer. Any composer who died in 1940 or before is now out of copyright. Lothian Concert Recordings will obtain the necessary licence from the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS). Prices are based on how much copyright protected music is to be recorded and how many CDs are to be made.
