Lothian Concert Recordings aims to provide a service to amateur musicians which enhances their enjoyment of music making through letting them hear their own performance.
What you can expect
Final Rehearsal: Lothian Concert Recordings would attend part of your final rehearsal in the concert venue to determine where best to position microphones and to establish the correct recording levels. (If this is simply not possible, levels would have to be set during a pre-concert warm up.)
The Concert: Lothian Concert Recordings would record your entire concert at CD quality* using a digital multi-track recorder and very good quality microphones.
The process of recording would be relatively unobtrusive and should not detract from the enjoyment of your audience. A maximum of three microphone stands would be used and cables kept to a minimum. The equipment should normally require no adjustment during the concert.
After the concert: Lothian Concert Recordings would prepare an edited recording of your performance. Each piece or movement would be assigned its own track number. Depending on your wishes, spoken introductions and applause would be included or omitted. (It tends to be more enjoyable to listen to a recording which has only the music, as if it were a studio recording. However, as it would be recording of a live performance, there will inevitably be a little unwanted sound in the recording. Sensitive fading in and fading out of tracks helps to minimise this.)
